Eighteen Nossaman Attorneys and Four Practices Recognized by Chambers USA

Chambers & Partners has recognized 19 Nossaman attorneys along with the Firm's Eminent Domain, Environment & Land Use, Healthcare, Infrastructure and Public Policy Practice Groups in its 2017 Chambers USA guide of leading law firms and lawyers.

The 2017 edition distinguishes Nossaman as one of only five firms in the top-tier of law firms nationally in the Projects: Public Private Partnership (PPP) category.  Chambers noted that the group is  one of the go-to firms for representation of public sector clients including state authorities, government departments and universities in the PPP space [and it] possesses expertise in the establishment of PPP programs for public bodies. Clients commented that the Firm is an industry leader in terms of its knowledge and experience in the space…[and] very personable and friendly, they are great to work with.  Infrastructure Practice Group Partners Barney Allison, Corey Boock, Patrick Harder, Yukiko Kojima and Geoffrey Yarema were selected as leading lawyers in the category.

Many of the lawyers in the Infrastructure Practice Group were also singled out for individual praise.  Patrick Harder, Chair of Nossaman's Infrastructure Practice Group, was praised by clients for being very competent and exceptionally well qualified.  Editors commented that Geoffrey Yarema has been working in the PPP space since the structure was first used in the USA.  Chambers noted that Corey Boock was recognized by a client for his strength in negotiations and Barney Allison was commended by clients for being a real asset and for "getting the issue from both sides of the table."

In the nationwide Transportation: Rail (for Railroads) category the Firm was recognized nationally as an "Other Noted Firm."

Chambers also recognized Nossaman as a leading California, District of Columbia and Washington law firm in Environmental law, and commented that the California team is "a robust group able to handle an array of environmental and natural resource matters [with] notable strength…in CWA and Endangered Species Act issues."

Environment and Land Use Chair Paul Weiland, and Partners Robert Thornton, and Mary Lynn Coffee were recognized as leading attorneys in California, and Partners Svend Brandt-Erichsen and Linda Larson were highlighted as leading attorneys in Washington, and Steven Quarles was highlighted as a leading attorney in the District of Columbia. Many of the lawyers earned individual praise from Chambers.  Mr. Thornton's praise included a commentator noting that he is "very thorough on environmental policy and very good at working with federal and regional government."  Regarding Ms. Remillard, clients noted that she is "very engaged in briefing and provided well-constructed, persuasive written material." Mr. Brandt-Erichsen was noted by sources for having a "huge" reputation for Endangered Species Act work, and Ms. Larson's clients commented that she has "an excellent knowledge of remediation regulations and existing decisions." Mr. Quarles was recognized by commentators as a "foremost authority on the Endangered Species Act."

Recognized once again as a leading firm in Healthcare in California, Nossaman was lauded for its "excellent analysis of the issues raised and representation…in complex matters."

Nossaman also received recognition as a leading California law firm in the Real Estate: Zoning/Land Use category.  Editors commented that the Firm is known for advising on "all aspects of the land use permitting process, including zoning, CEQA, coastal developments and eminent domain."   A satisfied client stated that the practice group is the local authority [and] statewide authority [for] county and regional processes - the firm is really helpful in that regard."   Bradford Kuhn, Chair of the Firm's Eminent Domain Practice Group, was recognized by Chambers for his work in the practice throughout California.

Additionally, Nossaman was recognized in the nationwide Government: Political Law practice area as an "Other Noted Firm."
