Nossaman Announcement

Jennifer Meeker recently prevailed on behalf of one of the firm's pro bono clients, The Center for Learning Unlimited (CLU).  CLU is a school that specializes in instruction for special needs students with unique complex learning challenges in grades K – 12.  An Appellant – who prevailed against CLU in the trial court for breach of contract over a gift to help build a playground that the Appellant reneged – appealed two trial court rulings that denied her collective requests for nearly $100,000 in discovery sanctions against CLU and its attorneys.  Ms. Meeker was able to leverage her burgeoning appellate practice for CLU as its appeals lawyer.  She convinced the appellate justices to affirm the trial court's rulings on the grounds that Appellant had not met her burden of proving that the trial court abused its discretion when it denied Appellant's request for sanctions.  Ms. Meeker also convinced the court of appeal to dismiss Appellant's second appeal as untimely.  As the prevailing party, CLU received costs from Appellant.  The executive director of CLU could not be more pleased with the result.

The work of Ms. Meeker is a prime example of Nossaman's commitment to Do Good Things!
