Joint Education Day with American Bar Association
Jennifer Meeker and Carl Blumenstein participated on panels during the Los Angeles Chapter of Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) Monthly Education Event on November 14, 2018 in Pasadena, CA.
Jennifer was a panelist for "Indemnification Provisions," during which she explored contractual indemnification clauses, one of the most overused and misunderstood provisions that parties routinely argue and negotiate. Her panel discussed the nature and history of indemnity clauses, what makes them enforceable, the interplay between indemnity clauses and anti-indemnity statutes, and current developments in the law concerning indemnity clauses.
Carl presented "Additional Insurance Coverage" and discussed additional insured endorsements, particularly in the construction field, which present everyday challenges for attorneys, contracting officers and risk managers. He and his co-panelist, Tim Thornton, addressed analysis of such clauses, variations in standard language of such clauses over time, and current developments in the law concerning these issues.
