Energy and Public Utilities Regulatory Chair Martin Mattes was recently quoted in the Law360 article, California Faces Big Hurdles To Meet Lofty Carbon Neutral Goal.

The article discusses Governor Jerry Brown’s executive order calling for the state to be carbon-neutral by 2045.  Governor Brown issued this executive order on the same day he signed SB100—which calls for California to have 100 percent zero-carbon electricity by 2045 as well.

Commenting on the order, Mr. Mattes said that the action is the governor’s well informed bet on the state maintaining its decarbonization push.  The effect of the proclamation is to take a bold step he would hope to see the next administration start to implement," Mr. Mattes stated.  "He's got enough people embedded in the executive agencies and other agencies that he can have some confidence they're going to follow through on that kind of initiative."
