SCCAI 52nd Annual Litigation Seminar

Thursday, November 7, 2019
Sheraton Cerritos | Cerritos, CA

Please join Nossaman’s Eminent Domain & Valuation Practice Group Chair, Brad Kuhn, for a panel discussion at the Southern California Chapter of the Appraisal Institute’s Annual Litigation Seminar.  Mr. Kuhn's panel will be discussing the following topics:

  • What are the challenges facing appraisers who are hired by agencies to complete appraisal reports for purposes of depositing funds with the court at the commencement of the litigation?
  • What kind of information is typically provided to the appraisers, and how does the appraiser deal with the lack of information about the specific operational status of the subject property?
  • How can the acquisition/deposit appraiser and appraisal be as protected as possible from a potential Right to Take challenge?
  • After completion of the deposit appraisal, how does the discovery process help appraisers collect information on the subject property which can be helpful in their valuation for exchange/trial purposes?
  • What are the items an appraiser should request, through their client, to help with proper valuation of the subject property (for both partial and full takes)?
  • What are some of the dilemmas the trial attorney and appraiser face from incomplete information?
  • What are some discovery strategies which will help the appraiser create the most complete appraisal report?

These and other issues will be covered during the panel discussion.  For additional information on the event, as it becomes available, please consult SCCAI’s website here.
