John P. Smolen

John P. Smolen has joined Nossaman as an associate in the Infrastructure Practice Group, focusing on project development, construction, and finance transactions in infrastructure and continuing in energy/renewable energy and advanced or emerging technology spaces. Mr. Smolen also counsels clients in corporate matters, joint development transactions, and real estate transactions, among others. Based in Washington, DC, he has represented renewable energy project developers, investors, industrial plant owners, and electricity-generating companies.
 
Mr. Smolen has extensive expertise in complex engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) transactions in the wind, waste-to-energy, and proprietary technology commercialization spaces, handling client matters through the life-cycle of a project, and often interfacing with regulatory matters, intellectual property issues, and securities and financing matters. He also has extensive experience counseling clients and supporting clients' dispute resolution negotiations and proceedings. 

Mr. Smolen's legal career comes after almost 10 years of commissioned service as an aviator in the U.S. Navy.
