Nossaman’s Infrastructure Practice Group has experience with rail consolidation, the topic of this article. In November 2006, Fresno voters approved Measure C providing $102 million for consolidation of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe and Union Pacific rail lines. Nossaman Partner Corey Boock had this to say about Measure C; it, “is a wonderful start to the project, but it’s not the end. There’s not going to be a magic bullet of found money out of Sacramento or D.C.”
Nossaman acted as special counsel on the $712 million design-build contract portion of the Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority’s $2.4-billion rail/grade separation project, providing an example referenced in the article, of how a large-scale rerouted rail project can be completed in the heart of a major metropolitan area.
