Maya Hamouie is an associate in the Firm’s Real Estate Practice Group.  Ms. Hamouie has experience defending clients in general commercial, product liability, insurance and other litigation matters. She has advised clients on legal issues that could affect their business operations and the appropriate actions they should consider taking to avoid litigation.

Prior to joining Nossaman, Ms. Hamouie’s experience included conducting research and drafting various motions and legal memorandums on breach of contract and evidentiary issues involving work product, expert witnesses, and hearsay, including drafting legal memorandum discussing whether Google Earth Imagery and similar computer software is considered hearsay when used as evidence at trial.

Additionally, she clerked for the Honorable Wesley R. Ward at the Harris County Civil Courthouse. In this role, she researched laws and court decisions related to the cases before the court, as well as drafted memorandums, briefs, and statements of issues.

Representative Work

  • Residential Treatment Center. Assisted in defending client in cases arising under premises liability, negligence, and the Medical Liability Act.
  • Construction Company. Assisted in representing custom home building company in breach of contract action in state court against defendant who acted unilaterally to terminate the parties’ construction agreement.
  • International Manufacturer of Toddler Products. Member of litigation team that defended manufacturer of toddler products in design defect, negligence, and breach of warranty claims in state and federal court.  
  • Transportation Company. Assisted in defense of client sued for vicarious liability of assault claim and for negligent supervision and training of its employees. Work included researching and drafting brief that resulted in summary judgment in favor of the client.
  • Offshore Marine Employers. Assisted in representing employers in the offshore marine industry against claims arising under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act. Work included analyzing and advising clients on jurisdictional issues and defending clients in disability claims.
