Natasha Saggar Sheth, CIPP/US, is a member of Nossaman’s Litigation Department and the Public Pensions and Investments Practice Group.  She manages complex civil litigation for both public and private sector clients, and her experience includes representing clients in the public pension, government, financial services, manufacturing, and insurance sectors.  Ms. Sheth is experienced in all phases of litigation in both federal and state courts, including pre-litigation investigation, discovery and eDiscovery, dispositive motions, settlement, trial, and appeal.

Ms. Sheth keeps current on emerging issues in the privacy and cybersecurity arena and posts developments to Nossaman’s Privacy Law Report.  She also regularly contributed to the ABA Section of Litigation publication, Litigation News, writing about new legal developments and other topics of interest to litigators.  

Prior to joining Nossaman, Ms. Sheth gained experience at an international law firm based in New York.  She served as judicial extern to the Honorable Stephen Reinhardt of the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit and the Honorable Percy Anderson of the U.S. District Court, Central District.  

Representative Work

Public Pension Litigation

  • Miller, et al v. San Joaquin County Employees’ Retirement Association and Board of Retirement.  Defend SJCERA and Board of Retirement in pending multi-million dollar purported class action alleging fiduciary violations by retirement board.
  • Greene v. Office of Administrative Hearings, Marin County Employees’ Retirement Association. Defend MCERA in due process challenge to hearing on application for disability retirement benefits.
  • Rivera v. Alameda County Employees’ Retirement Association.  Defend ACERA in challenge to denial of disability retirement benefits following a termination for cause.
  • Assisted in settlement of claim against a CERL retirement system regarding entitlement to reciprocal benefits.

Business Litigation

  • Copper Harbor Company v. Central Garden & Pet.  Second-chaired 8-week jury trial in California state court, obtaining $2+ million verdict for client for breach of contract and theft of trade secrets matter.
  • In re TFT-LCD Antitrust Litigation. Assisted team in defense of global manufacturer of LCD panels in numerous multidistrict antitrust actions, and related opt-out and state enforcement proceedings. 
  • Represents federal agency as a third party in various litigation matters pending across the country.

Additional Advice and Counsel

  • Offer guidance to state pension plan regarding scope of fiduciary duties for institutional investors in Europe. 
  • Advised municipal agency in challenge to start of major development project.
  • Advised municipality in challenge to collection and distribution of revenue.
  • Represent several pro bono clients in asylum proceedings.
