Rick E. Rayl Named Chair of Eminent Domain and Valuation Practice Group

Orange County, CA (March 12, 2010) — Nossaman partner Rick E. Rayl has been named Chair of the Firm's Eminent Domain and Valuation Practice Group, one of the largest groups of its kind in the state.  Mr. Rayl advises both private landowners and public agencies on eminent domain, inverse condemnation, and other real-estate-valuation disputes. 

"Rick is a natural for the position, given his considerable experience," said Michael Heumann, Nossaman's managing partner.  "In the last year he has become one of the leading voices in the field, writing prolifically on the California Eminent Domain Report blog and stimulating the public discourse." 

Mr. Rayl's clients include property owners, business owners, and public agencies in all aspects of real-estate-valuation disputes, including precondemnation planning, offers, and negotiations; right-to-take challenges and disputes concerning prejudgment possession; relocation claims and disputes; fair market value disputes; claims for loss of business goodwill and other business claims; claims for precondemnation damages and blight; inverse condemnation and other property-damage claims; and regulatory takings.  He also advises developers and property owners on various aspects of land use entitlement disputes, unlawful detainers and other lease disputes.

Mr. Rayl is the lead editor of the California Eminent Domain Report, the country's most active blog focused on eminent domain issues.  He is a frequent contributor in the Daily Journal, speaks regularly at industry conferences, and is on the Executive Board of Chapter 67 of the International Right Of Way Association.
