CALAPRS 2022 Annual General Assembly
Ashley Dunning and Jim Vorhis spoke during the California Association of Public Retirement Systems (CALAPRS) 2022 Annual General Assembly that took place March 5-8, 2022, in San Diego, CA. The General Assembly is an educational conference for retirement system trustees and senior staff.
On March 6, 2022, Ashley presented “AB1234 Ethics for Trustees.” This mandatory bi-annual training for public officials covered conflict of interest rules, public meeting and record requirements, due process requirements and other significant rules for legal compliance by public officials, with a particular focus on how these rules apply to retirement board trustees and senior staff.
On March 8, 2022, Jim served as a panelist for a session on “Cybersecurity and the Retirement System – What You Can Do NOW to Protect Your Organization." During his session, Jim and his fellow panelists discussed what safety precautions can be taken now and provided tangible best practices that public pension systems should adopt to ensure they’re secure.
CALAPRS sponsors educational forums for sharing information and exchanging ideas among trustees and staff of California public retirement systems to enhance their ability to administer public pension plan benefits and manage investments consistent with their fiduciary responsibility.
