Building a Safer, Resilient California
On September 29, 2023, Patrick Harder led an important discussion on “Building a Safer, Resilient California” during the 2023 Mobility 21 Southern California Transportation Summit. This session addressed the pressing issues of safety and resiliency in the face of natural disasters, climate change and the alarming increase in traffic fatalities. As California faces numerous challenges, such as ingress and egress out of natural disaster zones and coastal erosion, the panel explored innovative solutions that could help safeguard communities. The discussion shed light on the strategies and measures required to tackle these challenges effectively. Additionally, the session focused on the consequences of the pandemic on driving behavior and road safety. With the pandemic leading to changes in driving patterns and an increase in dangerous driving practices, the panel discussed, identified and addressed the emerging risks on our roads.
