CALAPRS Attorneys' Roundtable
Ashley Dunning, Thomas Dover, David Lee and Aalia Menes spoke during the California Association of Public Retirement Systems (CALAPRS) Attorneys’ Roundtable on February 10, 2023.
Thomas and David presented “What to Do When Your Pension Administration System Goes Awry.” They discussed how to evaluate and confront problems with your PAS software solution, including evaluating potential procurement and implementation strategies, navigating contractual pitfalls and spotlighting the key considerations if litigation appears inevitable.
Ashley and Aalia discussed “Pending and Recent Litigation Against Public Retirement Systems in California.” They updated attendees on the litigation status of pending cases, AHS v. ACERA, SCDSA v. SCERS and VCERA v. County, as well as described the issues addressed by superior courts in those proceedings. They also discussed the results of two other recently litigated cases involving California public retirement systems, Estate of Stanley and Casson v. OCERS.
Ashley also lead the session “Educational Opportunities for Public Retirement System Attorneys” which discussed upcoming events that provide training for attorneys looking to broaden their education in the legal issues impacting public retirement systems nationally.
