On April 24th, Matt Hansen and Tara O’Hanlon presented “Eminent Domain/Inverse Condemnation” during the Washington Association of Prosecuting Attorneys Spring Civil Training. During this session, Matthew and Tara clarified the concepts of eminent domain and condemnation and highlight the situations in which condemnation may become necessary. Attendees were provided a comprehensive overview of pre-condemnation requirements, along with an exploration of the procedural intricacies involved in a condemnation case. The discussion also covered legal and valuation challenges in eminent domain and conclude with a case study to illustrate key points.

The Washington Association of Prosecuting Attorneys (WAPA) was founded in 1975 and is a non-partisan, non-profit service organization dedicated to the training and support of county prosecutors. WAPA serves as a voice for county prosecutors at the state and national levels and acts as a liaison between counties and other levels of government through research, training and lobbying.
