San Francisco, CA (November 8, 2010) – Today, Nossaman announced that Partner Clothilde Hewlett won the "Excellence in Service Award" given annually by the Cal Alumni Association (CAA) at the University of California Berkeley. The award is presented to an alumnus each year who has provided outstanding voluntary service to the University. Ms. Hewlett will receive the award at the Cal Alumni Association's annual Charter Gala celebration on April 9, 2011 at San Francisco City Hall.

Ms. Hewlett's contributions to the Cal Alumni Association include hosting an annual reception at her home for the Berkeley Journal of African American Law & Policy, serving as a reunion class campaign volunteer, regularly contributing to Berkeley Law, and helping plan the law school's inaugural African-American Alumni Reunion. Ms. Hewlett also played an integral part in helping the Cal Alumni Association develop equity scholarships, established in 2008, that provide an economic incentive for California's high-achieving, underrepresented minority students to attend the University of California Berkeley.

"I commend Cloey for her service to the Cal Alumni Association over the years. We are proud to have her here at Nossaman," said Managing Partner, Michael Heumann. "She is a true leader on so many fronts, from advocating for her public policy clients, to promoting diversity, to supporting her community."

Ms. Hewlett is a public policy attorney and national leader on diversity. She assists clients with policy issues in California and at the federal level, across several industries including clean technology, renewable energy, water, and infrastructure. Ms. Hewlett's successful approach to communicating clients' perspectives to government officials, legislators, the media, and the general public is informed from her significant public service experience.
