Overview

Ron Oakes-Cunningham focuses on representing and resolving, on behalf of both public and private sector clients, disputes concerning real estate, public procurements and infrastructure projects. He also has particular experience in representing professionals alleged to have committed professional negligence, companies sued for data breach and privacy violations and resolving insurance coverage disputes.

In both federal and state courts, Ron is experienced in all phases of litigation and has successfully brought demurrers, motions to dismiss, motions for summary adjudication and motions for summary judgment on behalf of his clients, which includes brokers, directors, engineers, executives, general contractors, lawyers, owners, real estate agents and subcontractors, lawyers, brokers, executives, directors, real estate agents and engineers. He also has mediated and negotiated favorable settlements on behalf of clients alleged to have committed data breach and privacy violations.

During law school, Ron served on George Washington’s moot court board, was a finalist in the Van Vleck Constitutional Law competition and completed an externship with the DC Public Defenders office, where he represented juveniles from his hometown of Washington, DC.

Member of team that successfully represented Texas-based general contractor in construction defect litigation; drafted the motion for summary judgment that was granted disposing of the matter.

Successfully represented a San Francisco-based global holding company, bringing a motion for summary judgment on behalf of the client in a multi-party litigation dispute arising over a breach of contract claim where Plaintiff sought $200MM.

Meditated and resolved 10 matters on behalf of global ride-hailing company in litigation disputes concerning its independent contractors.

Successfully reached a favorable statutory 998 offer on behalf of a Fortune 500, multinational financial services company in an action where it was accused of a data privacy breach.

Disposed of three cases by way of summary judgment on behalf of lawyers accused of legal malpractice.
