Major CEQA Decision Moves Exposition Corridor Light Rail Project Forward

04.18.2012
A Nossaman team achieved a significant victory on behalf of Exposition Metro Line Construction Authority, the agency responsible for the planning and construction of the $1.5 billion Exposition Corridor Light Rail Project (Phase 2) from downtown Los Angeles to Santa Monica.  In a decision of great importance to transportation and public works projects, and to all other projects in California, the California Court of Appeal upheld the approval of Phase 2 of the Project, holding that in appropriate circumstances lead agencies conducting CEQA review may use projected future conditions to determine the significance of potential impacts of transportation projects on traffic and air quality.  For a more complete description of the decision, please click here.

When completed the Project will complete a light rail line between downtown Los Angeles and Santa Monica - the first rail transit line on the Westside of Los Angeles since the elimination of the Red Car in the 1950's.

The Nossaman team was led by Rob Thornton with assistance from John Flynn, Bill Pellman, and Monica Lawrence.
