Panel: Raise gas tax, charge drivers by the mile

Nossaman's Infrastructure Practice Group Chair, Geoffrey S. Yarema is quoted in the Associated Press article, "Panel: Raise gas tax, charge drivers by the mile." Yarema served as a member of the National Surface Transportation Infrastructure Financing Commission, a Congressionally mandated, blue ribbon panel recommending the federal government phase out the gas tax in favor of a mileage charge.

Yarema is quoted as saying "If someone else can come up with a solution that achieves the goals we all know need to be achieved and is more politically acceptable, that's great. But we haven't seen that alternative and we tried hard to find it." Responding to the White House's rejection of a mileage charge, Yarema is quoted as saying "I say let's wait and see.
