Morgan Callahan has a firm understanding of the operational and business issues the healthcare industry faces.  She guides clients on a full range of state and federal regulatory and accreditation issues, from Medicare and Medi-Cal, fraud and abuse compliance, The Joint Commission and the California Knox-Keene Health Care Service Plan Act, to HIPAA and the Business & Professions Code.  She represents clients in matters involving the Department of Managed Health Care, the Joint Commission, NCQA and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Ms. Callahan represents managed care plans, hospitals and health facilities as well as physicians groups on a wide range of regulatory, contracting and licensing issues.  She advises medical staffs on peer review investigations, hearings and other disciplinary actions, bylaws, rules and regulations, Joint Commission compliance and compliance with state and federal laws, and patient care issues.  Ms. Callahan has also acted as an arbitrator in peer review matters and is a member of Nossaman’s Healthcare – Alternative Dispute Resolution team.  She also represents individual health care providers in disciplinary proceedings before the Medical Board of California, the Board of Registered Nursing, and the Board of Psychology.

Ms. Callahan recently represented a health care service plan in obtaining a full-service “restricted” Knox-Keene license from the Department of Managed Health Care.

Ms. Callahan contributes her comments and insights on court decisions and news impacting healthcare matters to the Firm’s Health Law Ticker blog.

In addition to her healthcare practice, Ms. Callahan also advises and represents clients in labor and employment matters.  Her clients include both privately-held companies as well as public entities, and she provides advice and legal representation on a wide range of issues, including harassment and discrimination, contract disputes, employee evaluations, disability retirement hearings, and EEOC complaints.
