For more than sixty years we have worked with clients to preserve their water rights, promote their legislative interests, protect them from potential liability, develop and finance essential infrastructure, recover costs of service, and respond to regulatory initiatives.
Nossaman understands the California and federal laws and regulations that impact water from every possible perspective, which enables us to serve our clients' diverse needs effectively. We represent watermasters, water districts, cities, utilities, developers, agricultural growers and processors, design-builders, operators, and local, regional, and state agencies on a wide range of environmental, financing, water law, and water utility issues, including related litigation.
Nossaman's resources include an active Public Policy practice in Sacramento and Washington, DC that helps our clients achieve legislative and administrative solutions to the legal, environmental, and political barriers of permitting, construction, development, and project approval. We work daily with engineers, hydrologists, geologists, water quality specialists, and other professionals whose assistance often is crucial to the successful resolution of water law, water rights, and other natural resource legal matters.
A key component of our Water Practice Group is our ability to utilize members of the Firm's Environmental and Land Use, Eminent Domain, Public Finance, Infrastructure, Insurance Coverage, and Employment Practice Groups to serve our clients' diverse needs. We also are actively involved in and frequently serve on expert panels for industry and professional organizations such as the Association of California Water Agencies, the California Water Association, the American Water Works Association, the American Groundwater Trust, the Water Education Foundation, the Groundwater Resources Association, and the Association of Ground Water Agencies.
