Compliance Consultant (Sacramento)
We are seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented Compliance Consultant with experience in California state and local lobbying compliance, major donor reporting and exempt organization filings. The Compliance Consultant will play an integral role in supporting the Government Relations & Regulation Group, including the preparation and filing of lobby and major donor reports, and additional campaign finance reports as required. The Compliance Consultant will also be responsible for preparing exempt organization formation documents and overseeing ongoing corporate filings. The Compliance Consultant works under the supervision of an attorney for all client projects and must be able to work independently and demonstrate excellent judgment and responsibility. The Compliance Consultant reports to the Firm’s Practice Support Services Director and is located in the Firm’s Sacramento office.
The hourly range for the position of Compliance Consultant at Nossaman is approximately $38.46 to $51.28 per hour. The successful candidate’s annual compensation for this position is reasonably expected to be set between $75,000 and $100,000 per year, based on a 37.5 hour standard Firm workweek. However, actual compensation will depend on a variety of factors, including, without limitation, the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file state and local lobby registration and reports
- Prepare and file major donor reports
- Prepare and file other lobby and campaign finance disclosure reports, as required
- Prepare exempt organization formation documents, including bylaws and resolutions
- Participate in practice group meetings
- Special projects as assigned
Experience & Qualifications:
- B.A. degree, or equivalent experience, is required
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience with major donor, PAC and lobby reporting compliance
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and demonstrated ability to take ownership over client projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with compliance software such as NetFile
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
- Analytical ability to gather/summarize data
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated problem solver with the ability to work independently on projects
