Litigation Legal Secretary (Sacramento)
We are seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to support a team of litigation attorneys handling complex litigation matters in state and federal courts. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience managing sophisticated litigation support functions, including preparing and filing court documents across multiple jurisdictions. This position is well suited for a seasoned litigation professional who exercises sound judgment, demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, is a self-starter, thrives in a deadline-driven environment and takes ownership of assignments from inception to completion. The position will be onsite 4+ days per week in our Sacramento office and will report to the Legal Support Services Supervisor.
The hourly range for the position of Legal Secretary at Nossaman is approximately $38.47 and $46.16 an hour. The successful candidate’s annual compensation for this position is reasonably expected to be set between $75,000 and $90,000 per year. However, actual compensation will depend on a variety of factors, including, without limitation, the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Support a team of attorneys handling complex litigation matters across multiple jurisdictions
- Prepare, format, proofread, and finalize pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and correspondence
- Coordinate state and federal court filings and ensure compliance with court rules and deadlines
- Manage attorney calendars, litigation deadlines, hearings, depositions, meetings and travel
- Maintain client and matter files, engagement documents and case records
- Assist with the billing and client invoicing processes
- Coordinate document production, exhibits, presentations and meeting materials
- Anticipate attorney needs, prioritize competing deadlines and deliver exceptional client service
Qualifications
- 10+ years of litigation secretary experience in a law firm environment
- Strong knowledge of California state and federal court rules, procedures and e-filing requirements
- Proven ability to support multiple attorneys in a fast-paced, deadline-driven practice
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365, PDF documents, iManage and Aderant
- Exceptional organizational, proofreading, and document production skills with strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach
- Experience supporting multi-jurisdictional litigation is a plus
- Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy, professionalism and responsiveness
