Proposal Specialist (Los Angeles)

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Proposal Specialist to join our Business Development Department. This person plays an integral role in the Firm's business development efforts by developing competitive, high-quality RFP responses and proposals from start to finish. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the proposal development process – from kickoff and work plan development to document production, editing and final review as well as interview presentation deliverables. The position is located in our Los Angeles office and reports to the Firm’s Proposal Production Supervisor.

The hourly range for the position of Proposal Specialist at Nossaman is approximately $30.76 to $38.46 an hour. The successful candidate’s annual compensation for this position is reasonably expected to be set between $60,000 and $75,000 per year. However, actual compensation will depend on a variety of factors, including, without limitation, the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead proposal process for multiple concurrent RFPs, RFIs and RFQs from kickoff through submission and interview materials
  • Comply with firm proposal processes
  • Establish work plans and ensure strict adherence to interim and final deadlines leading up to proposal submissions
  • Facilitate kickoff meetings to discuss proposal requirements, writing assignments, win themes and schedules
  • Customize existing proposal content to be responsive to specific RFP questions including effectively combining otherwise independent content and practice descriptions
  • Draft persuasive and reader-friendly copy based on information from research, meetings with internal clients and Firm experience, as needed
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with attorneys, advisors, management and staff to gather content, feedback and sign-off on materials
  • Oversee proposal production and delivery, ensuring quality and compliance with all RFP requirements and consistency with Firm guidelines, including layout and formatting
  • Support proposal initiatives, including maintenance of content repository

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, is required
  • 2+ years of experience working in law firm or professional business environment
  • 1+ year of experience writing for a business audience is required
  • Prior proposal knowledge and experience is a plus
  • Proven ability to work in a process-driven position
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including reading comprehension, editing and proofreading capabilities
  • Dependable team player who works collaboratively and cooperatively with others in a team-oriented environment. Must also be able to work well independently
  • Strong client service orientation, exceptional time management skills and the ability to organize and prioritize multiple, simultaneous projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be poised and able to exhibit professional diplomacy amid high stress situations
  • Flexibility to work beyond standard business hours as needed
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
