On October 3-4, 2016, the annual Public-Private Partnership Higher Education Summit took place at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Diego, California.  The 2016 summit explored why P3s are an important development tool for colleges and universities, and how public-private partnerships can help meet higher education's need for new and renovated facilities.

Patrick Harder and Yukiko Kojima presented, "University of California, Merced 2020 Project - Early Lessons from a Path Breaking Project."  This panel of university and private sector experts discussed key features of this innovative public-private partnership using a performance-based, availability payment delivery method and how it may influence future projects being contemplated on campuses around the country.
