Ashley Dunning, Yuliya Oryol and Jim Vorhis spoke during the California Association of Public Retirement Systems (CALAPRS) Attorneys’ Roundtable on February 1, 2019 in Oakland, CA.

Yuliya began the day's discussion with "Compliance Challenges for Public Investors with European KYC/AML Requirements and Strategies for Protecting Staffs’ and Trustees’ Personal Information."  

This was followed by Jim's presentation on "San Joaquin County Employees’ Retirement v. Travelers Casualty and Surety Company of America, U.S.D.C. (Eastern Dist. of CA) Case No: 2:18-cv-02042-JAM-CKD," during which he discussed California law on the duty to defend and indemnify insureds, highlighted important terms in fiduciary insurance policies and how they may come into play for public pension funds, and provided practical tips for maximizing insurance recoveries.

Ashley also presented "An Analysis of Oral Argument Before the California Supreme Court in CalFIRE vs. CalPERS," providing a recap of this vested rights case and discussing the oral argument that was made to the California Supreme Court on December 5, 2018.
