Chris Hughes was recently appointed chair of the Business Law Section of the California Lawyers Association (CLA). He has been a member of the Executive Committee since 2022, and his term as chair will run through 2025.

The Business Law Section of CLA serves as a forum to educate members on recent developments and current issues in all fields of business law by providing a vehicle for the business bar to communicate with the general public, the California Legislature, regulatory agencies, business trade associations and other interested groups. Specific substantive areas covered include corporations, partnerships, unincorporated business associations, nonprofits, banking, bankruptcy, securities, commercial code, debtor-creditor relations, agribusiness, consumer financial services, cyberspace law, business litigation, franchise, insurance, legal opinions, health law, artificial intelligence, and alternative dispute resolution.
