Nossaman was noted on numerous lists for Vault’s 2027 mid-sized law firm rankings. Vault ranks the top law firms on a variety of metrics, including prestige, diversity and the quality of work opportunities.

The Firm earned recognitions across five categories in this year’s rankings:

  • 2027 Best Midsize Law Firms in Northern California
    Nossaman ranked #7
  • 2027 Best Midsize Law Firms in Southern California
    Nossaman ranked #8

Methodology
Each midsize regional ranking is based on associates who actually work in that region. For example, an associate from the San Francisco office of a national firm was only allowed to vote in the Northern California category.Vault’s midsize regional rankings include Chicago, New York and Texas. Vault’s 2026-2027 Rankings are derived from Vault’s Annual Associate Survey conducted from October 22, 2025 to January 23, 2026.

Methodology
To determine its Best Midsize Law Firms to Work For, Vault used a formula that weighed the most relevant categories for an overall quality of life ranking. Each firm's overall score was calculated using the following formula:

  • Associates were asked to rate their firms on a 1-to-10 scale for each of several quality of life categories. Each firm's overall score was calculated using a formula that weighs associate ratings in 11 different areas:
  • Overall Satisfaction (25%); Firm Culture (10%); Hours (10%); Compensation (10%); Quality of Work (10%); Informal Training, Mentoring & Sponsorship (10%); Business Outlook (5%); Career Outlook (5%); Associate/Partner Relations (5%); Leadership Transparency (5%); and Formal Training (5%).
  • Vault's Quality of Life rankings are meant to reflect the subjective opinions of associates.

Vault's 2026-2027 Rankings are derived from Vault's Annual Associate Survey conducted from October 22, 2025 to January 23, 2026.
