Alfred Smith and Anna Tang Recognized as "Leaders of Influence: Minority Attorneys"

Alfred Smith, chair of Nossaman’s Water Group, and Anna Tang, co-chair of Nossaman’s Corporate Group, were recognized by the Los Angeles Business Journal (LABJ) in its “Leaders of Influence: Minority Attorneys” supplement. The supplement features a select group of Los Angeles County’s leading minority attorneys who have been “particularly impactful on the legal scene while serving as trusted advisors in the LA region.”

The LABJ highlights Alfred’s role as “chair of Nossaman’s Water Group” and as a “recognized expert in all aspects of public agency operation and governance, water, environmental, transportation and public agency law who has successfully litigated multiple water right adjudications and has secured more than $750 million worth of contamination settlements in favor of his clients.”

The publication adds, "[Alfred] is a trusted advisor on matters involving water rights, the Sustainable Groundwater Man­agement Act, Colorado River and Pueblo rights, recycled water, water resource development, contami­nation remediation, groundwater adjudications, water transfers, desalination, conjunctive use, climate change and environmen­tal regulatory compliance and has also developed Urban Water Management Plans, water supply assessments and environmental impact reports.”

The LABJ praises Anna for serving as co-chair of the Firm’s Corporate Group and for being a “leading corpo­rate lawyer, highly regarded for her pragmatic commercial approach and for her capacity to work through complex and strate­gic legal issues and transactions.”

The LABJ goes on to say, “[Anna] represents and advises emerging and established com­panies across a broad range of industries as transactional and general corporate counsel with respect to a wide variety of business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, commercial agree­ments and negotiations and corpo­rate governance. She works closely with clients at all stages of the business lifecycle and her represen­tation includes entity formation, negotiating, drafting and reviewing all forms of commercial agreements and negotiations, purchase agree­ments, joint venture, partnership and shareholder and other forms of equity agreements.”
