Overview

Madeline Hassell defends clients in all areas of employment law, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation and wrongful termination actions in California state and federal courts. She has experience handling matters before administrative agencies, such as the Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Madeline also has successfully obtained workplace violence restraining orders (WVRO) on behalf of clients for the safety of their employees.

Outside of the courtroom, Madeline advises employers on employment agreements, employee handbooks, labor negotiations, reasonable accommodations, reductions in force and hiring and retention practices, such as pay transparency and pay equity. Madeline’s experience includes advising on employment and labor issues in mergers & acquisitions (M&A) transactions.

Beyond issues in labor and employment, Madeline has experience representing a class of plaintiffs in a nationwide mortgage lending discrimination action, as well as other matters related to fraud, breach of contract and related claims.
