Breaking Ground on Convention Center Expansion

The City of Los Angeles has been working to revitalize the Downtown area, and as Mayor Karen Bass notes, “the expansion of the LA Convention Center is critical to our effort, create new economic opportunities and send a message to the world that LA is ready to compete and win on the global stage.”

Nossaman works closely with the City on its Convention Center Expansion and Modernization project, which reached a major milestone with its commercial close on September 30, 2025, and a groundbreaking the following day. The $2.6 billion project is anticipated to add up to 190,000 square feet of additional exhibit hall space, expand meeting room and multi-service space and elevate the Convention Center into a global destination for conventions and events.

The design-build project will be delivered in phases, with the first phase scheduled to be completed ahead of the LA28 Olympics and the remainder after the Olympics. The project is anticipated to create more than 15,000 jobs, generate $652M in tax revenue and bring in $150M in additional visitor spending annually.
