Helping a Specialty Pharmacy Servicing Vulnerable Populations

We secured a stay of the suspension of Medicaid program payments to a specialty pharmacy dispensing and distributing HIV/AIDS medication to vulnerable and low-income populations.

In early 2022, the pharmacy received a notice of payment and provider-number suspension. If permitted to proceed, the suspension would have caused immediate hardship and care interruptions for hundreds of Medicaid beneficiaries. Engaged to advocate on behalf of the pharmacy, we argued for a stay and demonstrated the devastating effect it would have on vulnerable populations. Ultimately, before it took effect, the Medicaid agency indefinitely stayed the suspension. The resulting stay represented a successful outcome for both our client and the Medicaid beneficiaries it serves.
