Bernadette Duran-Brown and Jillian Friess Leivas participated in CLE International’s 28th Annual California Eminent Domain Conference that took place March 9 – 10, 2026, in Irvine, CA.

On March 9, 2026, Jillian co-presented “Garbage in – Garbage Out.” This session provided both owner and public agency counsel insights into mistakes made during all phases of the eminent domain process – and how to avoid them.

Bernadette co-presented “How Agencies Can Abandon Eminent Domain Proceedings After They Have Started (And When They Can’t): Then What Happens?” on March 10, 2026. This panel explored the legal authority and limits on abandoning eminent domain proceedings, covering voluntary and involuntary abandonment, real-world case examples and the financial and strategic consequences agencies must consider.
