IRWA’s 69th Annual International Education Conference
Chris Kramer, Steve Silva and Jillian Friess Leivas spoke during the International Right of Way Association’s 69th Annual International Education Conference that took place June 25-28, 2023 in Denver, CO.
On June 26, 2023, Steve and Jillian presented an “Annual Eminent Domain & Legislation Update.” They provided a comprehensive overview of eminent domain decisions and legislation impacting the right of way industry from 2022 to 2023.
Chris presented “Working on the Railroad: Acquisition and Condemnation of Railroad-Owned Property” on June 28, 2023. During this session, Chris described and discussed the substantive and procedural challenges involved in acquiring property rights from railroads in light of the unique regulatory and legal framework governing them. He used actual cases to illustrate the issues and challenges faced by public agencies needing to acquire railroad property.
