Yuliya Oryol and Ashley Dunning participated in the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys’ (NAPPA) 2018 Winter Seminar in Tempe, AZ.

Yuliya presented "Subscription Agreements – Creation of a Standard Uniform Template" on February 21st as part of the Investment Section Meeting. In her discussion, she explored the role of the subscription agreement in private investment transactions, as well as the Institutional Limited Partner Association’s efforts to create standard uniform templates for these documents that are acceptable to general partners and limited partners. She explained how the association is also working to streamline the creation of other fund documents, such as the limited partnership agreement, by creating templates for those forms as well. 

Ashley co-presented "Using Social or Political Criteria in Making Investment Decisions for Pension Plans" during a Senior Counsel session on February 23rd. The presenters focused on the role of fiduciaries in considering ESG factors when investing. They reviewed fiduciary standards applicable to state plans, and evolving developments in the economic analyses of ESG investment opportunities. They also reviewed ERISA, DOL advice letters, and common law for their guidance regarding fiduciaries’ duties of prudence and loyalty with respect to this topic.
