On March 11, 2021, Ashley Dunning was part of a special panel of guest speakers who presented "Pensions Economics and Fiduciary Duty Education Workshop" to the San Diego County Employees' Retirement Association (SDCERA) in a special meeting of the Board of Retirement. In this presentation, Ashley focused her discussion on Article XVI of the Constitution of the State of California, the County Employees Retirement Law (CERL), trust fund law and fiduciary duties and covered the following:

  • Legal framework governing CERL Boards;
  • CERL systems and trust law;
  • CERL boards and actuarial prudence; and
  • CERL boards and contribution rate setting.

Ashley wrapped up the workshop answering frequently asked questions on these topics.
