Bernadette Duran-Brown, Christine Ryan and Nancy Smith participated in the Transportation Research Board’s 102nd Annual Meeting in Washington, DC taking place from January 8-12, 2023.

Bernadette served as a panelist for the presentation “Real Property Acquisition for Project Managers” which explored different factors to consider when planning for and estimating realistic timelines and costs for property acquisition. The panel also reviewed mitigation strategies to avoid undue delays and expenses within applicable legal and regulatory frameworks.

Nancy moderated and Christine participated as a panelist for “Avoiding Disputes by Drafting Understandable and Enforceable Contracts.” During this interactive panel, speakers discussed problems encountered in drafting and interpreting contracts for state and local transportation agencies, as well as legal issues considered in resolving disputes. The panel also included Sid Jimenez with the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office and Martha Gross with VDOT.
