Chambers Recognizes Nossaman's Eminent Domain & Valuation, Environment & Land Use, Healthcare, Infrastructure and Real Estate Groups for 2022

Chambers & Partners has recognized 17 of our attorneys, along with our Eminent Domain & Valuation, Environment & Land Use, Healthcare, Infrastructure and Real Estate Groups in its 2022 Chambers USA guide of leading law firms and lawyers.

Once again, the 2022 edition distinguishes our Infrastructure practice as one of only five practices in the top tier nationally in the Projects: Public Private Partnership (PPP) category. The practice is also ranked in the top tier globally by Chambers. Our team received high praise from clients, with one client stating, “The team is extremely knowledgeable and always prepared. They are excellent at handling projects.”

Chambers called the practice “one of the go-to firms for representation of public sector clients including state authorities, government departments and universities in the PPP space…that offers comprehensive assistance across the life span of a project, including initial advice on legislation and obtaining environmental approvals, as well as representation at the construction, financing and operation stages.”

Infrastructure team members Andrée Blais, Corey Boock, Patrick Harder, Yukiko Kojima and Geoff Yarema were selected as leading lawyers in the category. Patrick, chair of our Infrastructure Group, is lauded by clients for being a “strong attorney who provides very sound advice and counsel.” Andrée is praised as “an excellent…knowledgeable attorney” by clients. Corey is highlighted for possessing “a breadth of knowledge across the infrastructure space and has a solution-oriented approach to complex issues.” Yukiko is complimented for being a strong performer in the PPP space, with a client proclaiming “she is excellent.”

Chambers also recognized us as a leading law firm in environmental and land use law nationally and in California, Texas and Washington.

Commenting on the Firm’s national Environment & Land Use practice, Chambers said we are a “well-known team with a national presence in environmental law and land use matters such as groundwater contamination, natural resources damages and toxic tort litigation.”

Speaking about our Environment & Land Use practice in California, Chambers wrote that we have “notable strength [that] lies in CWA and Endangered Species Act issues" and "[handle] a wide [range] of litigation and regulatory compliance matters, as well as land use and environmental permitting.”

The Washington team was acknowledged as a “respected group… which assists clients with the full gamut of environmental matters, including contaminated site remediation and resolution of natural resource damage claims as well as compliance and litigation relating to air and water quality, wildlife conservation and fisheries management.”

Mary Lynn Coffee (California), Robert Thornton (California), Svend Brandt-Erichsen (Washington), Leslie Nellermoe (Washington), Rebecca Hays Barho (Texas) and Brooke Marcus (Texas), all members of our Environment & Land Use Group, were recognized as leading attorneys in their respective states.

The team received high praise from our clients. Recognized again as a leading firm in healthcare in California, we were highlighted for areas of strength that include advising on “an impressive range of regulatory, transactional and litigation matters” and for being “helpful and customer-focused.”

Group Co-Chair Tom Curtis was recognized as leading healthcare lawyers and received outstanding feedback from clients. Regarding Tom, clients said that he is a “well respected lawyer” and noted his focus on “regulatory compliance concerns, medical staff peer reviews and licensing proceedings.” Speaking of Raja, clients referred to him as a “very knowledgeable healthcare regulatory attorney [and] a smart and very talented lawyer."

The Firm’s Eminent Domain & Valuation and Real Estate practices received recognition in the Real Estate: Zoning/Land Use category in California, with Eminent Domain & Valuation Group Chair Brad Kuhn being recognized individually. The practices were noted for having market leading experience in “land use permitting process, including zoning, CEQA, coastal developments and eminent domain.” Brad’s clients claimed he is “extremely responsive” and his experience in “eminent domain and associated aspects of land use and real estate law” was highlighted.

Additionally, in the national Food & Beverages: Alcohol category, Marco Costales was honored for his “experience of advising alcohol importers and wineries on license applications and compliance issues” with clients expressing that he is “very competent and very involved in the industry.”
