Amber Maltbie was quoted in the Bloomberg Law article “California Cryptocurrency Reversal Opens Door for Campaigns.” The article takes a look at how political donors in California would be able to use Bitcoin or other cryptocurrency to contribute to state and local campaigns under proposed regulation recently approved by California’s Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC).

Commenting on how interested political campaigns might be in fundraising using cryptocurrency, Amber said, “It's unclear how many campaigns actually would solicit cryptocurrency donations, [but none of my clients are] knocking down the door to try to get access to this type of a contribution.” She added that accepting contributions via cryptocurrency would also entail “using a payment processor [and this] would mean handing a variable percentage of the proceeds to a third party.”
