Protecting a Historic Public Asset
For nearly a century, Corica Park has been the City of Alameda’s cherished community resource. Covering 333 acres, it offers two 18-hole championship golf courses, a 9-hole Par 3 course, a driving range, clubhouse, pro shop and restaurant, welcoming golfers of every age and skill level.
For four years, the City had been involved in litigation against Greenway Golf Associates, Inc. – current tenant of the property and operator of the municipal golf course – alleging breach of contract. In response, Greenway filed a cross-complaint for breach of contract claiming monetary damages.
We successfully represented the City to a zero-dollar settlement. More importantly, the agreement clarifies and maintains the City’s audit rights, as well as ensuring discounted fees for Alameda residents.
The resolution safeguards the community’s equitable and affordable access to Corica Park, while the golf course and recreational space remain a prominent public destination.
