Shant Boyajian was quoted in the Inframation article, "News Analysis: Will Biden Back Infra With Another Big Spending Bill?” The article examines the Biden Administration's game plan for getting an infrastructure bill passed; whether it will be another attempt at a massive spending package or a smaller bill that could gain broader support; and forecasts what can be expected as the effort moves forward.

Commenting for the article, Shant stated, “While both Republicans and Democrats support new infrastructure legislation, any move toward raising taxes to fund the bill will likely mean the loss of some Republican support, particularly if the increased taxes involve rolling back changes made in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.”

He added, “Aside from what measures make it to the floor for a vote, using reconciliation means that a bill will be limited to funding, not policy. That means reauthorization of the FAST Act which authorizes surface transportation programs, cannot be included in the bill.”

Before joining Nossaman, Shant served as Senior Counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, where he led the development of the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act – the largest infrastructure bill in U.S. history.
