Resiliency Matters
On September 17, 2020, Patrick Harder was a featured panelist for the "Resiliency Matters" breakout session during the 2020 Mobility 21 Southern California Transportation Summit: Generation Transportation.
This panel addressed what is needed to create lasting solutions in Southern California as it faces challenges on multiple fronts while planning for transportation assets in an era of climate change, sea level rise and rapid changes in technology. The desire to "future-proof" new capital investments is front-of-mind among transportation planners and the strategic process for achieving this goal requires creativity, sensitivity and objectiveness. Finally, the panel also discussed the roles that scientific data and social justice play in making sound resiliency planning decisions for the benefit of future generations.
Mobility 21's Virtual Summit featured full educational content with broadcasts of three general sessions and eight breakout sessions with more than 60 expert speakers.
