Overview

With more than 1.6 million people, Phoenix is the only U.S. state capital with a population of more than one million residents, and the fifth most populous city nationwide. Consistently outpacing U.S. population growth during the past 18 years, the area is projected to grow by nearly 60 percent in the next decade.

Phoenix’s earliest inhabitants were the Hohokam Indians, who thrived in the region until about 1450 A.D. There is no record of the Hohokam after that, although they are believed to be ancestors of the Pima Indians. In the Pima language “hohokam” means “those who have gone.”

We are proud to be a part of this amazing growth and look forward to contributing to the economic and social character of this diverse and historic city, while honoring its amazing past.
