Overview

Michael Price advises and represents public pension and benefit systems in a wide range of litigation matters, including cutting-edge and novel disputes involving fiduciary obligations and related duties of those responsible for administering multi-billion dollar public and private pension plans. His practice also encompasses constitutional and public agency law compliance, employee and disability retirement benefit disputes and other complex litigation matters such as intellectual property disputes, insurance coverage issues, real estate and lease disputes and breach of contract claims.

Prior to joining Nossaman, Michael served as an attorney with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, where he represented the agency in complex employment litigation before the Merit Systems Protection Board and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. He advised the internal clients on a range of employment law issues, including whistleblower protections and collective bargaining agreements and collaborated with stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance while aligning legal strategy with organizational objectives.

Before his federal service, Michael maintained a broad litigation and regulatory practice at a mid-sized law firm in Phoenix. He represented clients in matters involving breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, employment law, data privacy, regulatory compliance, trademark disputes, energy and utility regulation, trusts and estates, insurance, education and election law. He advised clients before agencies such as the USPTO, the Arizona Corporation Commission and the Arizona Commerce Authority and was actively involved in all stages of litigation, from motion practice and e-discovery to depositions, hearings and trial. His pro bono work included representing clients in landlord-tenant disputes, immigration matters and drafting an amicus brief on behalf of the Arizona Capital Representation Project in an appeal before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Earlier in his career, Michael represented clients in personal injury matters and taught a course at the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law focused on major Supreme Court decisions and contemporary legal issues. Michael also served as a judicial law clerk for both the Arizona Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona.
