Nossaman Joins Business, Government Leaders to Celebrate UC Davis West Village Project

05.20.2011

Members of Nossaman's Public Policy team were on hand to celebrate the opening of the UC Davis West Village Project, the largest Zero Net Energy development of its kind in the country. A May 19 press conference marked the completion of the project's first phase, 130 acres of student housing and retail that combines advanced energy efficient design features with SunPower solar technology, producing four megawatts of clean, renewable energy.

Thursday's press conference was attended by business and government leaders including California Lieutenant Gov. Gavin Newsom; California Energy Commissioner Karla Peterman; Jim Pape, President of SunPower Corporation; and Linda PB Katehi, the UC Davis Chancellor. UC Davis West Village is the product of a public-private partnership between UC Davis and West Village Community Partnership LLC, a joint venture made up of Carmel Partners of San Francisco and Urban Villages-Davis of Denver.

Nossaman's Public Policy Practice Group navigated the complexities of this first-of-its-kind public-private partnership, which included consulting and outreach to arrange a team of partners and achievable goals. Nossaman's team identified the key stakeholders, developed strategies to create and leverage successful partnerships, and provided a robust and targeted outreach effort to raise the project's profile among the public and industry and government leaders.
