Nossaman Named a "Best Law Firm For Female Attorneys" for Second Year in a Row
Nossaman is pleased to have been named to Law360’s annual list of the 100 Best Law Firms for Female Attorneys for the second year in a row.
Nossaman ranked #93 on the list this year, moving up four spots from last year, when the Firm was ranked #97. Law360 noted that firms included in the list are working to buck the industry's overall trend and cites its 2016 Glass Ceiling report that found just 34 percent of all attorneys and 22 percent of partners at the U.S. law firms surveyed by Law360 were women.
This ranking is a validation of our commitment to building an inclusive, dynamic work environment where women can thrive, said Ashley Dunning, Co-Chair of Nossaman’s Public Pensions and Investments Practice Group and leader of its Women’s Affinity Group. Creating this type of environment helps foster a more creative, productive workplace, and enables us to better serve our clients—which drives the success of the Firm.
As part of its initiative to build a welcoming workplace for women, Nossaman annually hosts a Women's Retreat for its attorneys, policy advisors, and senior management with a focus on developing key skills and performance that leads to advancement, both inside and outside the Firm. Additionally, Nossaman sponsors or hosts educational programming for a number of groups dedicated to women’s advancement in the workplace--including the Bay Area Women of Color Attorney Network, the Women in Transportation Seminar, and the Women Lawyers of Sacramento.
To compile these rankings, Law360 surveyed more than 300 U.S. firms, or international firms with a U.S. component, about their overall and female headcount numbers as of Dec. 31, 2015. Only U.S.-based attorneys were included in the survey. Firms are ranked based on four factors: the percentage of partners, both equity and nonequity, who are women; the percentage of nonpartners who are women; the split between the firm's female partner percentage and female nonpartner percentage; and the number of female attorneys at the firm.
