A team led by Byron Gee, Patrick Richard and Fred Fudacz, and with significant assistance from Ilse Scott and Raven McGuane, was featured on the American Lawyer Media (ALM) website Law.com for securing a $65.9 million judgement for our client, Santa Clarita Valley (SCV) Water, in its case against the Whittaker Corporation. An earlier settlement in the case with Saugus Industrial Center, a cross defendant, resulted in a $2.9 million contribution, for a total recovery of $68.8 million.

Law.com highlighted the work in its “Litigators of the Week” column (subscription required) and lauded our Nossaman team for securing “a judgment of more than $65 million for the Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency in a dispute with the Whittaker Corp. over the costs for cleaning up groundwater contaminated by volatile organic compounds and perchlorate. Following a three-week jury trial late last year, U.S. District Judge Stanley Blumenfeld Jr. in Los Angeles entered judgment late last month for the water agency.”
