Nate Solov is a Capitol insider with more than 22 years of legislative and lobbying experience and whose relationships with legislators, staff and the Governor’s office allow him to achieve results for clients. Since joining Nossaman in April 2019, Nate has already secured success for clients. He is well respected in the legislature and Governor’s office for his knowledge, work ethic and ability to find compromise and get results.
During his more than 17 years in the legislature, Nate staffed more than 125 bills and as chief of staff, helped Senator Hill get the most bills signed into law of any legislator at the time. As a chief of staff Nate helped broker deals on many high-profile legislative reforms, managed communications and political strategy, and successfully secured millions in budget funding for local programs. As a lobbyist he’s capitalized on his relationships to help clients advance their interests. He helped the nation’s leading broadband installer get two bills signed to streamline permitting and construction processes at the local government level.
On behalf of the Port of Los Angeles, he worked with the Governor’s Office, key legislators and the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development to help secure more than $1 billion in the state budget for port infrastructure improvement funding as well as hundreds of millions of dollars for the port’s transition to zero emission drayage trucks and charging infrastructure. He obtained more than $8 million in the state budget and got legislation signed to advance the state’s Parkinson’s Registry on behalf of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. He connected the SF Bay Ferry with the California Transportation Agency Secretary to help them obtain needed funding. He helped small business, family owned California craft distillers get legislation signed allowing them to continue direct shipments to consumers after their COVID regulations expired. On behalf of one of the state’s largest phone service providers, he got legislation signed continuing a state funding program that makes phone service more affordable in hard to reach parts of the state. He led a coalition of construction defect firms to get balcony safety legislation through the legislature and signed by the Governor. He led a coalition of floating homeowners in the Bay Area and was able to get legislation signed providing rent protections for these vulnerable communities. He led a coalition of state toll agencies to advance legislation preventing frivolous lawsuits. He secured millions in the state budget for San Mateo Community College District projects and got legislation signed allowing the district to make college more affordable for its students.
Nate also wrote successful applications that led to state tax credits and utility discounts for a leading specialty vehicle manufacturer to expand their presence in California.
