Helping a Boutique Los Angeles Hotel to Serve Alcohol

We handled the liquor licensing transfer applications for a new boutique hotel in downtown Los Angeles.

London-based hotel chain “The Hoxton” opened a new open-house style, boutique hotel in Los Angeles in late 2018, but had difficulty securing appropriate liquor licenses for its numerous on-site bars and restaurants (Nossaman was not representing it at that time). The hotel eventually secured those licenses in August 2019, and began operations. However, as a result of a corporate reorganization, the hotel’s owners desired to transfer those licenses to a different entity.

Due to the complexities involved, Nossaman was hired to assist in getting all the licenses transferred. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic presented unique challenges, but this project is now in the final stages of completion. Nossaman took the lead on all matters before the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, and also assisted with issues involving the City of Los Angeles Planning Department and the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood City Council.
