Reconnecting the San Gabriel Valley
For generations, communities in the San Gabriel Valley have relied primarily on car travel to access jobs and higher education in Los Angeles and in the region, leading to heavy congestion on Interstates 10 and 210 – a problem worsened by the steadily growing population farther east. The success of Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority’s historic A-Line Expansion will now provide a new and alternative connection to the rest of Los Angeles County, including Long Beach and Downtown LA.
We assisted the Authority on the $1.5 billion project, which added 9.1 miles to the now longest light rail line in the world at 58 miles and 40 stations. The four new stations—Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne and Pomona North—will improve transit access for communities across San Gabriel Valley, strengthening connectivity between residential neighborhoods, educational institutions, recreational areas and regional parks. It also provides a direct transfer point to Metrolink at Pomona Station, facilitating smoother travel between the Inland Empire and the Foothill Cities corridor. Additionally, the new stations will prove useful during the 2028 Olympics, when cricket is played at the Pomona Fairplex.
The A-Line expansion stands to ignite economic growth, raise property values and deliver a more affordable, sustainable future for the San Gabriel Valley community.
