DBIA's 2021 Design-Build for Transportation & Aviation Conference

Design-Build Institute of America's 2021 Design-Build for Transportation & Aviation Conference
04.21.2021

On April 21-22, 2021, Evan Caplicki was a guest presenter for two sessions during Design-Build Institute of America's (DBIA) 2021 Design-Build for Transportation & Aviation Conference. This year's virtual conference focused on building the most robust design-build program possible to provide "here and now" resources, solutions and real-world case studies to help fuel the attendees' important work.

On April 21st, Evan took part as a panelist in the "Practitioners Forum" to kick off Wednesday's programming. This forum provided an opportunity for the design-build industry practitioners to have a robust conversation about the business aspects of design-build, including the good, bad and ugly associated with establishing a "single point of responsibility" team. Not only did panelists discuss key industry trends and issues, but practitioners had the opportunity to provide input to help DBIA lead the way to solve some of the most prevalent challenges in today's market.

On April 22nd, Evan was a speaker for "Taming Utility Risk: We All Have a Part to Play." This session focused on risk management and allocation as it relates to utilities, one of the top-ranked risks to modern transportation infrastructure projects. Managing this risk successfully continues to be a challenge for both project owners and design-build practitioners alike. Beginning to address this risk before award is an essential aspect of successful project delivery. This session provided the tools and methods used on projects that have successfully managed to reduce the risk posed by utility site conditions.
